DeathHe died on 23 March 1322 in York, Yorkshire, EnglandG. Roger was involved in a rebellion against King Edward II. In March 1322 Roger's rebel forces were in battle with the king's forces. During the battle Roger received severe wounds and was forced to surrender. He was held captive in York and condemned to death, where he was hanged, probably on 23 March 1322. His estates were forfeited, including Skipton Castle, which were later restored to his brother Robert Clifford, 3rd Lord of Skipton in 1327. (Wikipedia.com.)2
