Obituary: "Death of Mr. Cyrus B. Morris
Summerside mourns the loss of one of its finest and best known citizens by the death yesterday morning at his home, 75 Spring Street, of Mr. Cyrus B. Morris. He had been in failing health for about a year during which time he suffered several paralytic attacks. Mr. Morris was born at Bedeque, December 16, 1876, a son of the late Joseph Morris and his wife, the former Anne Wright, of that place. He was educated in the district school and prepared himself for a business career by entering upon a course in commercial book-keeping at the Charlottetown Business College in which he was awarded a diploma for proficiency. Soon afterward he entered the service of Wright Bros. at Victoria, the partners in which firm were the late Norman and Elisha Wright.
For several years Mr. Morris successfully engaged in the lobster canning business, and established a Prince Edward Island branch in Summerside of the N.B. firm of Fred Magee Ltd., and was made its manager for the province. He later became actively engaged in the fox industry, becoming a director in several companies during the boom years of that vocation. His next business step was to enter into a mercantile partnership with Joseph A. Bernard at Tignish, in which he continued until his retirement in 1940. After his retirement Mr. Morris was active in various capacities in Summerside, conducting one of the drives some years ago in aid of the Prince County Hospital, assisting in the Victory Loan campaigns, and at one time was in charge of the Selective Service Bureau here.
Left to cherish his memory are the following children: Victor, in Cornwall, Ont., Allie, Mrs. Arnold Wilson, Stratford, Ont., Florence, Mrs. James A. Morrison, Summerside; Mrs. Jean Woodcock, Winchester, Mass; also six grandchildren. Two other children died several years ago, Arthur and Doris. Surviving also are two sisters, Mrs. Robert Holland, Bedeque and Harriet, retired nurse, in New Hampshire.
A man of pleasing personality and excellent qualities, the passing of Mr. Morris will be deeply regretted by those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance which included the members of the Masonic fraternity, in which Order he had the distinction of being the oldest Past Grand Master in this province. In religion, the deceased belonged to the United Church of Canada, being previous to the union, a Methodist. The funeral takes place on Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Compton Funeral Home, where a service will, in the absence from the province of the pastor of Trinity United Church, be conducted by Rev. Donald J. MacKay, of the Presbyterian Church. Interment to People’s Cemetery." (The home of Cyrus Morris, at 75 Spring Street in Summerside is now the McNaught History Centre & Archives.)2,5

| Burial | He was buried in the Peoples Cemetery, Summerside, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada, 46.40520, -63.77608G.
