On 12 May 1939 John was admitted to the Oregon State Hospital for treatment of mental illness. He was diagnosed with senile psychosis. After being a patient there for 7 months he died of heart & kidney problems on Christmas Day.6 |
| Burial | He was buried His cremated remains were never taken after his death, and are still available at the Oregon State Hospital to be claimed by anyone who is related.
