Note

Richard went to France in 1421 or 2. He was styled as "of Ermyngton", which was where his family seat, Wympstone, was situated. No doubt he joined his father in the French wars, but he was again in Devon before 1431. At his father's death in about 1435 he succeeded to his Hertfordshire estate of Punsbourne, or Ponsbourne, or Ponnysbourne, near Hatfield. Sir Richard fought under the Duke of Somerset on King Henry VI's side in the first battle of St. Albans, which was close to his home, and was killed.

Richard led to the branches at Punsbourne and Falkbourne.1

BirthRichard III Plantagenet was born on 2 October 1452, in Fotheringhay Castle, Fotheringhay, Northhampton, EnglandG.
MarriageHe married Anne Neville, Queen of England, daughter of Richard ("Warwick the Kingmaker") Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick, and Anne Beauchamp, 16th Countess of Warwick,, in 1474.1
DeathRichard III Plantagenet died on 22 August 1485 in Battle of Bosworth Field, Leicestershire, EnglandG. the Plantagenet dynasty ended with the death of King Richard III.1
BurialHe was buried in beneath Greyfriars Church, Leicester, Leicestershire, EnglandG.2
ExhumeHe was exhumed on 12 September 2012 in Greyfriars Church, Leicester, Leicestershire, EnglandG. Greyfriars Abbey (aka the Church of the Grey Friars) had been destroyed in the late 1530s. In recent years a car park was created over the site of the church. Excavation began on 24 August 2012 to locate the church buildings, and, perhaps, the remains of Richard III. On 5 September excavators announced that they had identified the Greyfriars church. Two days later they found the garden where a memorial to Richard III stood in the early 17th century. Human bones were next found beneath the church's choir. On 12 September an announcement was made that there was a strong possibility that these remains belonged to King Richard III. There were several wounds on the body, including wounds to the skull, a part of which had been sliced off with "a bladed weapon". The remains were identified as a young male (Richard was 32 when he died), with several spinal abnormalities, scoliosis, "consistent with contemporary accounts of Richard's appearance". On 4 February 2013, the University of Leicester confirmed that "the skeleton was beyond reasonable doubt that of King Richard III". This stunning conclusion was also based on DNA evidence provided by the son of a 16th generation great-niece of Richard. Richard's remains will be reinterred at Leicester Cathedral sometime in 2014.3,4
ReinterHe was reinterred in 2014 in Leicester Cathedral, EnglandG.4
