- Leverette was baptized, along with several others in the local congregation, by Rev. Barton in the waters of the Saint John River by cutting a hole through the ice.

- Leverette loved music and sang tenor in the church choir. He also enjoyed reading, especially his favorite, the Readers Digest. He was good in math and worked as a carpenter for the New Brunswick Bridge Department, following which he became a bridge inspector. He was a farmer until the early 1930's when his son, Edison, took over the operation of the farm During World War II, he worked as a carpenter for the Canadian Army in Fredericton. From the late 1940's until the late 1950's Leverette and Julia spent each winter in an apartment in Fredericton.
