- Obituary - Mr. GEORGE SEAMAN
Pugwash May 18th, 1918, Oxford Journal News.
Mr. GEORGE SEAMAN passed away at his home, Woodside on Monday 13th inst after a long and painful illness. The deceased was a son of the late STEPHEN and ISABELLA SEAMAN of Pugwash. Of a family of 10 but 3 now survive, ANNIE, wife of J. A. McPHERSON, Halifax, ISABELLA, widow of the late JOSEPH S. SMITH, Pugwash and FRED of New ABERDEEN, C.B.
The late Mr. SEAMAN was born in Pugwash in 1853 (sic) at the age of 25 he left home and spent 3 years in Australia and 8 years in New Zealand.
Returning to Pugwash where he spent 1 1/2 years. He went next to California, where he remained for 34 years.
Eleven years ago he returned to Pugwash where he has made his home since. The funeral was held from his late residence on Wednesday at 2 pm. Rev. M. B. WHITMAN, Pastor of the Baptist Church assisted by Capt. NELLIE FARRELL of the Salvation Army conducted the service. The hymns, My Savior first of All and When the Roll is called up Yonder were sung. Rev. Mr. WHITMAN gave a very comforting address from the text. In my Father's House are many Mansions after which Capt. FARRELL offered prayer and gave a brief address. The remains were laid to rest in Pugwash cemetery.
