- In the Book (12-pp 104) of Mortgages in the clerks office in Albany, N.Y.there is on file a Mortgage by Abraham Barnes of his farm situated inwhat is now known as Westerlo, N.Y. a few miles from Freehold. There isno record of the purchase of this farm; - only the mortgage recorded bythe Mortgagee, Charles Dyer, Jr. 1802. viz: - 'Registered for and at the request of Charles Dyer Junior of the town ofCoeymans in the County of Albany, farmer, 10th day of June 1802'. Item - That on the 8th day of June , ye aforesaid Abraham Barnes of thesame place farmer, for and in consideration of the sum of $128.13 lawfulmoney of the State of New York, hath mortgaged all that certain piece orparcel situate lying and being in the Town of Coeymans, County Albany,N.Y. Lot No. 2 -4th allottment of Coeymans Patent and the 18th Lot, lyingat a stake south corner of farm formerly of Solon Lapham, then so, 6degrees 15 chains and 25 links; then west to north & south road runningthro said farm; - then so. bounded by said road 4 chains 75 links -thence to a stake and stone; thence east 31 chains to place of beginning- containing as supposed 48 acres & 1/2 more or less'. 'If Abraham pays the $128.13 with lawful currency by or before 1st Sept.1803 no specified bond of even date - then null and void'.
