- Edward Bobet was mentioned in records at Plymouth in 1643. He was 16years old then and was able to bear arms. He came from England. Hiseldest son was Elkanah I, who was followed by Elkanah II, and in turn byElkanah II. Daniel, eldest son of Elkanah II, came to Saint John with the Loyalistsfrom Duchess Co., N.Y. in 1783. He brought his family with him. Hiseldest son, Daniel, was seven years old at that time. He moved toGagetown and applied for land in Sunbury co. in 1784. He spelt his name'Babbet' and was a blacksmith. He was twice married. Fourteen sonsfollowed his body to the graveyard. Daniel, Jr. married Dorothy Hoben in 1797. His son, John built theBabbit homestead at Swan Creek. He married Hannah Elizabeth Wasson.Their children were: (1) James (who married Maretta Estabrooks). (2) Thomas. (3) Fred. (4) Elizabeth.
