- Elijah Estabrooks, b. Mar. 17, 1804, Sheffield, Sunbury County, NewBrunswick, d. July 19, 1872, Grand Falls, Victoria Co. He married first,Dec. 22, 1824, Sarah Burpee, in Sheffield, Sunbury Co. She was born May16, 1801, and died Aug. 1844. Elijah's occupation was a farmer. Florence Estabrooks, in her 'Genealogy of the Anglo-Dutch EstabrooksFamily', said Elijah and Sarah (Burpee) Estabrooks lived in the Parish ofSheffield, Sunbury County, New Brunswick, for a while after they weremarried, then moved to Jacksontown area in Carleton County, NewBrunswick, where he bought a farm. However, he backed a note for somemen who eventually could not pay. Because of this he lost his farm, andmoved to Woodstock. Sarah died there, and was buried in Jacksontown. Hethe married second, Margaret L. Coombs. She was born Aug. 11, 1814, anddied Feb. 1872. About the time of his second marriage he moved to GrandFalls, Victoria County, New Brunswick, where he bought a large farm. Hisson Thomas erected fine white Italian marble tombstones at Elijah andMargaret's graves in the Baptist cemetery in Grand Falls, but they werelater stolen. Elijah's children by Sarah Burpee were, Loisa Jane, Emeline, Martha Ann,Sarah Esther, Thomas Sherman, Edward Manning, Richard Parker, and MaryJane Estabrooks. Children by his second wife, Margaret L. Coombs were, George Franklin,Clarence Burpee, Valentine Adolphus, and Jesse Estabrooks.
