Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Van Every, Newcastle; and threesons, Gerald Mahoney, Alva, and Hiram Mahoney and Allen Mahoney, both of Newcastle. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.today at Worden Chapel in Newcastle. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Worden Chapel, with Bethand Pat Riley of Reorganized LDS Church officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Alva Cemetery. Listed in The Rapid City Journal newspaper on September 21, 2000 A statement from Edward Hiram Mahoney, Jay's cousin on October 9, 2000:'If it wasn't for Jay, I probably wouldn't be here.'
