- Stephen Wiggins was a ship owner in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. He founded the Wiggins Male Asylum, which was intended primarily for orphans of sea faring men from Saint John. The Institution was incorporated in 1867, but the building on St. James St. was not opened until July 1, 1876. In June, 1877, it was destroyed in a great fire, and was subsequently rebuilt from the original design. In 1969, the Wiggins Home for Orphans & Needy Boys was on Hawthorne Ave.
