-RO At an early age, he moved to Toronto to upgrade his education: high school and college. During the Depression of the 1920s, William worked for a Toronto firm selling life insurance. At some point, he moved back to Baie Verte, NB.
-RO He served in the Canadian Army from 11 May 1942 to 30 July 1946 at Debert Station, Nova Scotia. William served as a departmental clerk in the Royal Canadian Ordnance Core. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal at the end of the war.
-RO In civilian life, he had his own car dealership in Amherst, NS called Nash Sales. Later on, he worked as a car salesman for different dealers. He also worked at carpenter work: he build the family home in Debert Station, NS.
-RO In 1950, he and Grace Oulton and family moved from Debert Station, NS to Brantford, Ontario, where they purchased a house at 81, Murray Street. In Brantford, he had his own business in industrial roofing, and worked at the Cockshut Farm plant on Mohawk Street.
-RO In his spare time, he liked to play the violin, to fish and to hunt.
