William served as a departmental clerk in the Royal Canadian Ordnance Core. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal at the end of the war. -RO In civilian life, he had his own car dealership in Amherst, NS called Nash Sales. Later on, he worked as a car salesman for different dealers. He also worked at carpenter work: he build the family home in Debert Station, NS. -RO In 1950, he and Grace Oulton and family moved from Debert Station, NS to Brantford, Ontario, where they purchased a house at 81, Murray Street. In Brantford, he had his own business in industrial roofing, and worked at the Cockshut Farm plant on Mohawk Street. -RO In his spare time, he liked to play the violin, to fish and to hunt.
