Waterborough, Queens County, New Brunswick [4, 5] |
- Rev. Richard Clarke of Gagetown's Saint John Anglican Church recorded "Waterborough Oct. 25, 1789, married Marcus Palmer and Anne Slocum both of Hampstead, but were married at Mr. Wiggins in the above parish".
Both Ann and Marcus were Quakers, but a Quaker wedding was not legal in New Brunswick at that time. Ann Slocum's older sister was married to a good Anglican, Jacob Wiggins UE. So their home at Grand Lake in the Parish of Waterborough was used for the wedding.
