Married:
- Some records indicate that he married Mary E. Baker on 2 March 1742, and that his second wife's name was Rebecca. Others indicate that he married his first wife, Mary Reynolds, about 1721 and his second wife, Mary Baker, on 22 November 1742. In his will, Joseph mentions sons, Thomas, Jonathan, Nathan, Silas; daughters, Elizabeth Gardner, Mary Jenkins, Rebecca Briggs, Ruth Corey; granddaughters, Rebecca & Alice Corey, daughters of son, Benjamin, deceased. The family lived at East Greenwich, Rhode Island where the children were born. Rhode Island Roots Volume 18 Dec 1992 has an article on five unknown children of John and Elizabeth Cory of Kingstown by Wayne M. Wilcox. On page 103; son Joseph born circa 1695 probably at Portsmouth, died between 29 Jan 1767 and 26 Mar 1768 when his will was proved at East Greenwich. This article states his first wife is a Rebecca born circa 1697 and died 18 Jul 1741 in her 44th year. Vital Records of Rhode Island shows Joseph marrying a Mary Baker of North Kingston on 22 Nov 1742. One problem, it appears that Mary Reynolds Corey is living in 1767 when Francis names her in his will. Abstract of Francis Reynolds will of West Greenwich. Will is dated 23 Dec 1767 and proved 26 Nov 1768, pages. 67-72 & 171. This will lists daughter Mary Corey and grandson Silas Corey and granddaughter Ruth Corey. If this is the case, then is it possible that the Mary Baker who married Joseph Corey is Mary Reynolds with a married name?
