He began married life in the old house given to him by his grandfather,but in 1775 he built a new dwelling, in which he carried on the businessof an inn-keeper until his death on Feb 13, 1799, located on the righthand corner in Allenton as you go south towards Tower Hill from Route 1where the latter turns into Wickford. He was a leading citizen, and itwas only natural that the small hamlet should receive his name. His willnames his wife Hannah as executor, and mentions the following children:Dinah, Hannah, Penelope Champlin, and Samuel. (The Allen Familes)
