- Obituary: "The death occurred Saturday morning at Lower Montague after an illness of three weeks of Artemas Hooper, one of the oldest residents of Bedeque, but who has spent the last few years at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. A. J. Robertson, Lower Montague. Mr. Hooper came of good old Empire Loyalist stock, his father and his grandfather having come to the Island from New Jersey; and his father, Major Hooper, was one of the earliest Justices of the Peace in Prince County. Mr. Hooper was a most exemplary man, a splendid citizen, and a truly religious man, being for many years a most active and consistent member of the Baptist church. Mr. Hooper leaves three daughters: Mrs. A. J. Robertson, Montague; Mrs. Dr. McDonald, lately of Spokane; and Mrs. Newsome, resident in Chicago, to mourn the death of a most dutiful and affectionate father."
