Note |
- Susan Anna 'Gunhilda' Wiggins was 16 years old when she married her cousin, Ezekial Stone Wiggins. She was a writer using her pen name of 'Gunhilda'. She was the author of the famous 'Gunhilda Letters--Marriage with a Deceased Husband's Sister' that was published in a 50 page booklet in 1881. She was privately educated, and was a brilliant student of Latin and Greek, who wrote verse, and a biography of her famous husband, Prof. E.Stone Wiggins. She died on May 6, 1921, and her obituary read in part, 'At all events, let us honor her, and remember her, the lone woman great, intellectual, marvelously well-read and cultured, a woman, who in her own way, stirred Canada as few women have ever stirred her'. I have a copy of a two page write-up on Susan Anna 'Gunhilda' Wiggins that is available to those interested. Please e-mail me at:ksheehan@@infinity.net
